Canal Replacement Project, Segment 5B

On this project, Sukut crews unwatered the existing canal and then removed, hauled, and disposed of collected sediment. Sukut also installed 165 dewatering wells to lower the water table to an approximate elevation of negative 18 feet to install 6,394 feet of a 10-foot diameter RCP. The dewatering system incorporated an automatic dilution system that reduced the electrical conductivity of the discharge effluent. Additionally, Sukut constructed a temporary inlet, a 27-foot-tall concrete access structure, a 6,500-linear-foot-long access road and performed mass grading and excavation.
