America’s Longest-Burning Tire Fire

In August of 1998, an estimated 7 million tires ignited in Tracy, CA. The site burned until December of 2000, when Sukut was asked to help extinguish it. Sukut worked alongside the U.S. EPA, the local fire departments, DTSC and California I.W.M.B. to put out the fire. With Sukut Construction’s experience and expertise, America’s longest-burning tire fire was extinguished in approximately 15 days.

In January of 2003, Sukut Construction, Inc. was awarded the remediation contract for the Tracy Tire Fire Site. There are approximately 50,000 cubic yards of contaminated materials to be disposed of.
