Intern, Project Management
Classification: Non-exempt
JOB SUMMARY:
Assists project management personnel on jobs, both in the office and at the job site as necessary, performing real-life work tasks designed to utilize and reinforce skills learned during college studies. Positions available at various offices, primarily during summer months.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS MAY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
1. Gaining knowledge and skills within the project management function through methods that may include training, mentoring, and on-the-job experience
2. Assisting project management staff on various aspects of estimating and project management work, rotating between types of work and departments as available
3. Assisting with clerical needs of project management staff which may relate to project submittals, scheduling, costing, document control, and other miscellaneous tasks in the office and at the job sites
4. Learning to use AutoCAD for projects
5. Attending project meetings with customers
6. Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
1. Ability to learn and follow direction
2. Basic computer skills in programs such as Excel, AutoCAD, scheduling software
3. Basic mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
4. Solid written and verbal communication skills
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
1. Enrolled in college, preferably in third or fourth year of coursework leading to a bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering
2. A minimum of one years’ work experience reflecting ambition and a good work ethic; some construction experience helpful
3. Any equivalent combination of acceptable education, training, and experience
