Sukut Bets The Company and Comes Out The Winner
It was a "bet the company' situation" said Mike Crawford, president of Sukut Construction lnc., the Santa Ana based contractor whose earthmoving bid made a critical difference in Silverado Constructors gaining the Eastern Toll Road project.
"The whole design / build process requires innovation," Crawford said. "We had to build without completed plans - it's a moving target that you are chasing all the time".
These are powerful concepts for road builders, people used to the traditional design-bid-build process. Yet, so much of winning the job goes right back to the basics winning the bid. Sukut undercut all contenders when it came to the earthmoving bid packages, but then, it had an edge.
