Myron Sukut has been a leader in the construction industry for over 50 years. His resume includes Project Engineer with Laguna Niguel Corporation; Vice President of L.N.C. Construction Co; General Superintendent at  Altfillisch-Fulton Co. He co-founded Sukut Construction, Inc. in October of 1968 and served as President until October 31, 1990. He was awarded a Presidential/Key Executive M.B.A. Degree from Pepperdine University School of Business and Management in 1985. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board, and is primarily involved with Sukut Development and Chandler Real Properties.

  • 1968: Myron Sukut and Dick Coulson establish Sukut-Coulson, Inc. on October 24th.
  • 1970: Responds to explosive residential housing boom. Provides grading for most major residential communities in rapidly growing Orange County.
  • 1970: Diversifies into larger public works projects, completing major dam, bridge and road projects.
  • 1974: Sukut-Coulson, Inc. becomes Sukut Construction, Inc. with Myron Sukut as President.
  • 1974: Works on the Camp Pendleton/29 Palms project for Ecoscience/Kaiser.
  • 1975: Performs grading work on a Catalina Island project for Pacific Pipeline Construction Co.1975    Implements a professional consultation and engineering construction program that allows clients to assess the economic feasibility of land development projects that consist of special engineering, geotechnical, and other complicated constraints.
  • 1978: Helps rebuild a portion of Bluebird Canyon in Laguna Beach, CA, after a massive landslide destroyed 25 houses and threatened 30 others.
  • 1979: Sukut pioneers the use of ground freezing to provide temporary ground support for landslide repair work at the Smyth Brothers/AVCO Seagate project.
  • 1980: Construction begins on the Department of Water & Power's 140 foot high Lower Franklin Canyon Reservoir in Los Angeles, CA.
  • 1980s: Provides earthmoving expertise for numerous high-profile, world-class golf courses, including; Pelican Hill, Aviara, Spanish Hill, Marbella, Robinson Ranch and The Crosby.
  • 1981: Takes up its current residence at 4010 W. Chandler Ave. in Santa Ana, CA.
  • 1981: Work is done at the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station for Southern California Edison.
  • 1982: Contour grading is done at Beacon Hill in Laguna Niguel, CA, for Taylor Woodrow Homes.
  • 1982: Completes major sections of the I-15 Freeway in Riverside and San Diego Counties
  • 1986: Contributes to the building of the 43,000-acre city of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA, Rancho Mission Viejo planned community.
  • 1986: Landslide repairs are made on the Monarch Beach Ritz Cove project in Laguna Niguel, CA.
  • 1987: Grading work is performed at The Marbella Country Club and Golf Course in San Juan Capistrano, CA, for the Marbella Development Company.
  • 1987: Begins slope stabilization for the Ridgegate project in La Jolla, CA. The project includes a sophisticated phased earthwork logistics design and the installation of over 160,000 square yards of geogrid reinforcement materials to construct a shear key/buttress fill.
  • 1988: Becomes an S Corporation and shares are offered to some employees, allowing partial ownership of Sukut to employees.
  • 1988: Michael Crawford is named Sukut Construction's Vice President.
  • 1989: Mass grading improvements begin on the Standard Pacific/Irvine Company Turtlerock community in Irvine, CA.
  • 1989: Grading, underground utilities, and final shaping begin for the Aviara Resort and Golf Course project for Aviara/Hillman Properties West, Inc. in Carlsbad, CA. Since the project is adjacent to the Batiquitos Lagoon, Sukut works closely with the city of Carlsbad to maintain the environmentally sensitive area and adhere to California Coastal Commission Requirements.
  • 1990: Garners more than 20 top industry awards for quality work.
  • 1990: Mike Crawford is named Sukut's President.
  • 1990: Grading and construction of storm drain, sewer, and water facilities starts at the Newport Coast Golf Courses, Pelican Hill and Pelican Point residential subdivisions.
  • 1990:    Uses geogrid reinforced earth for hillside land development to construct steep and variable slopes that simulate natural contours at the Spanish Hills Golf and Country Club in Camarillo, CA, for the Spanish Hills Development Company.
  • 1994:    Establishes a long-term contract with the State of California Integrated Waste Management Board to eliminate illegal landfills and waste tire sites.
  • 1994:    Receives award from the City of Los Angeles Board of Public Works in recognition of outstanding performance and early completion of the Lopez Canyon Liner Phase II Project.
  • 1994: Begin the 26-mile Foothill/Eastern Transportation Corridor -Toll Road
  • 1995: Jerry Pabbruwee is named Vice President.
  • 1997: The Transportation Corridor Agencies and Silverado Constructors recognize Sukut's Management and Employees for Exceptional Safety Performance for the completion of 57,497 safe work hours on the Eastern Transportation Corridor Project.
  • 1997: Contributions to the Arroyo Seco Stream Restoration project are recognized by Browning-Ferris Industries, Inc.
  • 1997: Completes the immensely challenging 26-mile Foothill/Eastern Transportation Corridor 14-months ahead of schedule and within budget, moving 67 million cubic yards of earth and rock, equal to approximately one-fourth the size of the Panama Canal.
  • 1997: More than 300 clients and employees celebrate Sukut's 30 years of earthmoving excellence with festivities on yet-to-be-opened Toll Road.
  • 1997: Grading begins on the Robinson Ranch Golf Course in Santa Clarita, CA.
  • 1998: Michael Bobeczko joins as Director of Marketing.
  • 1998: Excellence in Accident Prevention Award is presented by the SCCA.
  • 1999: Opens San Diego division in Oceanside with Mike Zanaboni as President.
  • 1999: Paul Kuliev joins team as Chief Financial Officer.
  • 1999: D9R Dozer is dedicated to Ray Adams for his 18 years of quality performance at Sukut.
  • 1999: Named one of the "Best Companies to Work for in 2000" by OC Metro magazine.
  • 1999: Grading starts on the 410 acre The Crosby Golf Course in Rancho Santa Fe, CA for Starwood Development and J.T. Kruer.
  • 1999: Receives the California Integrated Waste Management Board's "Resolution" Award for outstanding work in performance of cleanup activities on behalf of the Board for the dangerous and innovative cleanup of an illegal dumpsite in Humboldt County.
  • 1999: Centex Homes' "Excellence in Teamwork Award" is awarded for the Fairfield Ranch project in Chino Hills.
  • 1998-2001: Triples revenues.
  • 1999-2002: Quadruples revenues.
  • 2000: Employs more than 300 people.
  • 2000: Sukut Equipment, Inc. receives Certificate of Achievement from the California Highway Patrol for four Consecutive Satisfactory Ratings since January 5, 1993.
  • 2000: Adds geologist, Susan Jennings, to staff.
  • 2000: Southern California Contractors Association Contractor of the Year for 2000 is presented to Sukut.
  • 2000: Extinguishes the nation's longest-burning tire fire in Tracy, CA in five days. This site contained millions of tires that burned for more than two and a half years.
  • 2000: The American Road & Transportation Builders Association Transportation Development Foundation presents Sukut with the 2000 Globe Award for Environmental Excellence for its role in the Eastern Toll Road Project.
  • 2000: Begin mass grading and storm drainage systems for The Irvine Community Development Company's Crystal Cove project.
  • 2000: Sean McCoy joins team as Tax Director.
  • 2001: Started Public Works Division
  • 2001: Mike Zanaboni is named President of Sukut Construction's San Diego division.
  • 2001: Names Mike Ortiz Vice President of Sukut Equipment, Inc.
  • 2001: The American Society of Civil Engineers--Orange County Branch "Project of the Year - Land Development - 2000" Award is presented for work on the Dana Point Landslide Remediation Project.
  • 2001: Fulltime safety and environmental director, Rick McCourt, joins the team.
  • 2001: Michael Bobeczko, Director of Marketing, is presented with the Volunteer of the Year Award from the Home Builders Council (HBC).
  • 2002: Linda Adams, Corporate Secretary and Human Resources Director, celebrates 30 years with Sukut.
  • 2002: Leads the way to ensure cleaner Orange County air by upgrading its equipment fleet with high-tech, computerized, emission-reduction engines.
  • 2002: Completes addition to its Santa Ana headquarters, increasing capacity by 50%.
  • 2002: Sukut's President, Michael Crawford, is named President of the Southern California Contractors Association (SCCA) for the year 2003.
  • 2003: Provides earth-moving technology at over 30 sites throughout California.
  • 2004: Mary Ellen Copek joins team as Talent Director
  • 2005: Started Environmental Division
  • 2005: Created an effective partnership with The Irvine Company and Stantec to construct Pelican Hill Resort.
  • 2006: Began grading Kohl Ranch, Phase 1 in Riverside County for Pardee Homes
  • 2006: Construction at the Sunshine Canyon Landfill in Sylmar, CA  for Browning Ferris Industries of California
  • 2006: Sky Ranch construction began in Santee, San Diego County for Lennar Homes of California, Inc.
  • 2006: Environmental Divison begins Phase 5-A at the Antelope Valley Recycling and Disposal Facility in Palmdale, CA
  • 2006: Black Mountain Ranch grading begins in Poway in San Diego County, CA
  • 2010: Moving from the nation's largest grading contractor to public works, Sukut focused on infrastructure, landfill expansions, and waste water construction.
  • 2010: Seismic retrofit of the San Pablo Dam for the East Bay Municipal Water District.
  • 2010: Site development for a section of the U.S.-Mexico border fence and is widening a 1.3-mile segment of State Route 76 in Fallbrook, California.
  • 2010: Construction of the Landcaster Water Treatment Plant  - A multistage upgrade of treatment at the Lancaster Water Reclamation Plant, and the addition of four new storage reservoirs, a storage tank, a pump station and pipelines to deliver non-potable water to and from storage sites and to reuse sites.
  • 2010: Sam Aiello promoted to Mining Operations Manager and heads up the newly created Sukut Mining Group.
